The Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists 2017

Each year fans wait for Forbes to calculate, analyze, scrutinize and finally publish their list featuring the biggest names in Hip Hop. One name that has conquered the list for a couple of years is Diddy, all thanks to his savvy investments, which have assured him regular high returns. However now it’s no longer important to top the list, rather there has been a new goal set, which is to hit the first billion dollar mark.

The competition is stiff as on one hand we have Diddy on the other we have rappers cum businessmen like Jay-Z and Dr Dre. So overall the race to the top has become way more interesting with new deals and newer projects. For now, let’s see what’s the present scenario and who could add more millions to his net worth in the previous year.

# Drake ($ 90 million)

Drake

For some, this might come as a surprise, however, lately Drake has become a cash magnet. All thanks to his album, Views(2016), which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. Apart from that, Drake toured across the nation and had successful deals with brands including Nike, Apple, and Sprite.

# Birdman ($110 million)

Birdman

Recent years have been tough for Birdman as not everything seems fine between him and other rappers. Though when it comes to the money earned, Birdman still made a decent moolah via his Cash Money Records. There were doubts whether artists including Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Drake would leave the label, still, nothing is clear.
